CAMX – THE COMPOSITES AND ADVANCED MATERIALS EXPO WRAPS UP IN DALLAS

After two years, North America’s largest composite and advanced materials industry expo and conference program in the world, CAMX, returned to an in-person format.

November 2, 2021, DIAMOND BAR, CA – On October 19 – 21, CAMX – Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX), produced by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), welcomed the composites and advanced materials industry back to Dallas’ Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (KBHCC) with nearly 4,000 in-person manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, engineers and researchers and close to 400 exhibiting companies. This year, CAMX+, a new, digital extension that enables access to on-demand content as well as recorded content from the in-person expo will be available through Dec. 31, 2021, extending opportunities for learning with hundreds of virtual-only registrants.

This year’s show started with an inspirational General Session keynote by Lockheed Martin’s Greg Ulmer. With rousing videos peppered throughout his talk, Ulmer spoke about how composites have innovated the way Lockheed Martin makes the products that protect America’s interests both at home and overseas, and how advanced manufacturing technologies shape the future of aviation at Lockheed Martin.

Greg Ulmer, Executive vice president (EVP) of the Aeronautics business area for Lockheed Martin Corporation addresses thousands of composites industry professionals during the CAMX 2021 General Session in Dallas, TX.

“It was inspiring to learn how the composites manufacturing industry has supported Lockheed Martin’s integration of advanced materials into their enterprise. The composites and aeronautic industries can accomplish so much more by working together,” said Cindy L. Squires, Esq., ACMA President and CEO. “There was a definite buzz around Lockheed Martin’s forward-focused applications of advanced manufacturing and materials, and our industry is ready to create and innovate in the aviation market.”

The CAMX Exhibit Hall showcased businesses impacting the future in a broad range of markets, including aerospace, automotive, architecture, 3-D printing, marine, transportation, recycling, wind energy, construction and infrastructure, sports and leisure, software, and academic research.

“Speaking with this year’s exhibitors was an uplifting experience,” said Zane Clark, SAMPE CEO. “Visiting the nearly 400 exhibitors and sitting in the education sessions made one thing clear; innovation didn’t stop during the pandemic; in fact, if the CAMX Awards is any indicator, it brought about even greater ways of bringing the world together.”

CAMX 2021 concluded on Thursday, October 21, with “Good Day, CAMX!” closing breakfast panel discussion on the topic of how Best Bath transitioned from the old guard to the new, with respect for the past and excitement for the possibilities of the future. Moderated by Marcy Offner, Composites One, the lively discussion between Co-CEO Megan Multanen and her father and Best Bath Founder and Chairman of the Board, Gary Multanen, was entertaining and informative. The recording of both, the General Session and Good Day, CAMX!, are available to watch on-demand on the CAMX+ platform.
