2020 CAMX Award Finalists Announced

2020 CAMX AWARDS FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

CAMX Awards recognize innovations that have the potential to significantly impact composites and advanced materials in the marketplace.

September 11, 2020, DIAMOND BAR, CA– CAMX – the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo is proud to announce the finalists for the CAMX Awards, sponsored by Composites One. The coveted CAMX Award is bestowed to two entries that exemplify the CAMX theme of “Combined Strength. Unsurpassed Innovation.” The award allows organizations and individuals to showcase groundbreaking achievements that have the potential to truly change the composites and advanced materials industry.

The Combined Strength Award is presented to the composites product that clearly demonstrates a team approach and effort that brings together knowledge, resources, and talent to produce an incredible example of the best use of composites materials that solves a problem.

The Unsurpassed Innovation Award is presented to the composites product that clearly demonstrates a novel design that incorporates low-cost materials for high-volume applications, or with high performance applications with low-volume materials, which delivers a product that is innovative and has the potential to significantly impact existing or open new markets.

Join fellow industry peers at the CAMX 2020 Virtual General Session on Tuesday, September 22 at 11:00 am ET to celebrate the innovative companies that are shaping composites as the 2020 CAMX Award winners will be revealed and receive their awards. This year’s finalists are:

The winning entries and finalists will be on virtual display in the CAMX Award Booth at CAMX 2020, held virtually Sep. 21-24, 2020. Judging was conducted by a panel of nine industry experts using the following criteria:

  1. Concept and Design – Is the concept novel, new or different; is the design unique and best utilizes composites properties?
  2. Value – How does the product utilize materials efficiently to provide the best cost benefit ratio?
  3. Impact – 1) Does the composites product not only make an impact on the composites industry because of its potential to drive increased volumes of materials and sales but also replaces existing materials, or 2) does the product represent a new manufacturing process that improves current methods and techniques?
  4. Production and Delivery – 1) Did the product follow deliberate concept-prototype-test-preproduction phases before going into production, or 2) did the product emerge from concept to production? Did the product meet the intended delivery requirements to the customer?
  5. Collaboration – 1) Was this innovation developed working together from a diverse set of interests including but not limited to, industry, academia, government, trade/professional/ technical association, end-users, owners, contractors, and 2) bring the strengths of many organizations, disciplines, and capabilities that collectively were able to bring the product to fruition?
