CAMX 2017 Kicks Off in Orlando

The premier composites industry event in North America returns to Orlando, where it debuted in 2014.

December 12, 2017 (Orlando, Fla.)CAMX – The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo opened today at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., continuing its fourth year as the composites and advanced materials industry’s premier conference and trade show.

The expo, produced by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) covers all aspects of the world’s composites and advanced materials communities. It is North America’s go-to event for products, solutions, networking and advanced industry thinking. The exhibition unites all aspects of the world’s composites and advanced materials communities. The conference will cover a wide array of topics and markets, including aerospace, automotive, architecture, 3-D printing, marine, transportation, recycling, wind energy, software, construction and infrastructure, sports and leisure, university research and more.

The Exhibit Hall is open today and will remain open until December 14. Despite having postponed the event back in September due to Hurricane Irma, nearly 85 percent of exhibitors from the original event will be displaying in the hall. The show floor includes exhibits featuring the latest product innovations from all over the world. Attendees will see composites in action through live demonstrations and interactive displays.

“We are delighted that so many of our original exhibitors are with us this week in Orlando,” said Heather Rhoderick, CAMX Show Director. “The high exhibitor retention rate illustrates just how important this event is to the composites industry.”

Innovation Park, new to this year’s show, is an Exhibit Hall enhancement that creates opportunities for attendees to make new connections, exchange ideas and learn new things. The park is comprised of specialized “zones” – tailored to the learning, networking and inspirational needs of CAMX attendees.

“We added Innovation Park so CAMX attendees can redefine how they experience a trade show,” said Tom Dobbins, ACMA President. “At the traditional trade show or conference, it can be difficult to find time to interact, learn and think organically, so our goal is to provide the atmosphere and tools to do this.”

This year’s General Session CAMX Live! session – a TED Talk™-style panel of innovators and industry leaders, featured dynamic presentations given by industry trailblazers providing examples of how companies are creating disruptive innovation in multiple markets. By thinking about designing and creating in new ways, these innovators have made radical changes to products and the industry. This year, Boom Technology Aerostructures Engineer Kerry Manning, Composites Building Structures President/CEO James Antonic, and Oracle Team USA Designer Kurt Jordan will be speaking.

“What all three of this year’s CAMX Live! speakers have in common is that they’ve been on the front lines of engineering teams for end-use applications that have changed the way we view markets,” said Gregg Balko, SAMPE CEO. “We want to encourage attendees to think about how they can be a part of our industry’s disruptive innovations.”
