Poster Session Displays Research

CAMX showcases the innovations of unique – and young – minds in the industry with the Poster Session. On display throughout CAMX for all to read and learn from, the Posters are written by students, universities and company researchers. 2015 Poster Session entries are being accepted until mid-September, and accepted entries compete to be named 2015’s trailblazing research of the year, awarded at CAMX. If you are affiliated with a school and would like more information on all the student/university activities CAMX offers, contact Christie McCabe at cmccabe@acmanet.org. The Deadline is Friday, September 18th to let us know that you will submit a poster!

Preserving Composite History

The Smithsonian Institute recently achieved their kickstarter campaign fundraising to conserve, digitize and display the spacesuits worn by Alan Shepard and Neil Armstrong during their historic space missions. Because shuttle spacesuit materials include ortho-fabric, aluminized mylar, neoprene-coated nylon, dacron, urethane-coated nylon, tricot, nylon/spandex, stainless steel, and high-strength composite materials, the preservation process is very complex. The $700,000+ funds raised will not only provide significant information on the suits state, the 3D digitization will allow researchers and the public unprecented access to this piece of composite history.
